Psychologist Service
Many people facing life difficulties can benefit from talking to a professional. The Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre (PBNC) would like to make the community aware that our centre has a Psychologist available for assistance. The Psychologist service is independent of, but supports the work of the PBNC. This service provides confidential, professional assistance to children, adults, couples and families facing difficulties.
The Psychologist
Jo-Anne Collier M.A.P.S has wide ranging experience with adults and children both in Australia and the U.S.A over the last 14 years. Her areas of interest include:
Anxiety, Panic Attacks, depression, Insomnia, Stress management, Abuse Issues, Complex Trauma, Grief, Relationship Stress, PTSD, Anger Management and Workplace Stress.
How Can I See The Psychologist?
The service is provided by Jo-Anne Collier, a fully registered psychologist. To make an appointment simply phone reception on 5598 1505. We are located at 16 Third Avenue, Palm Beach.
Fees
The most affordable way to see the psychologist is to visit your doctor and enquire about a Better Outcomes Mental health Plan. With this plan, patients can generally receive up to 12 individual sessions per calendar year. Where a Mental Health Care Plan is in place, bulk billing maybe available.
RE FEES: IT DOES COST MONEY TO SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST. FEES ARE SCALED TO CLIENT’S INDIVIDUAL AFFORDABILITY WHICH CAN BE DISCUSSED WITH THE PSYCHOLOGIST PERSONALLY, BY PHONE OR AT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT. ONLY IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES BULK BILLING IS AVAILABLE.
Clients who have accessed financial Counselling and ben referred to a psychologist may also be bulk billed through the counsellor discussing the person’s needs. Most people can pay $10-$20 over the bulk billing amount.
SEEING THE PSYCHOLOGIST AT PBNC
Step1) Visit your G.P. to see if eligible for a Better Outcomes Mental Health Care Plan. You will need this to obtain a medicare rebate. (Sometimes the G.P.s have their own preferred Psychologists).
Step2) Contact PBNC and the Psychologist Joanne Collier will return your call and make an appointment and discusss eligibility for bulk billing.
