Palm Beach Neighbour Centre Play Group (PBNCPG) aims to develop children that think freely and act with consciousness, kindness and free choice.

With Steiner-like principles, the group accepts children with gratitude from wherever they come from.

Each child has the opportunity for free play guided by their parents and the caregivers at the group. They are encouraged to interact with their peers in a nurturing environment, to trust their environment and express themselves using life-skill based toys, craft items such as paint, paper, glue and other assorted items.

Their interactions with the group endeavour to develop their knowledge of the world and how to relate to others in an environment that gives the children time to play, to use their imagination and experiment with ideas. This experience lends itself to self-directed
learning that is a lifelong, reality based style. These experiences help extend the individual child's confidence and capabilities. Focus is on interpersonal skills, learning how to share with other children, empowering the children through play.l

Free creative play is considered by Steiner to be the best preparation for self-realizing adult life.

Activities within the group revolve around (but aren't limited to) sand play, water play, storytelling, sharing and preparation of food and toys, painting, gross and fine motor skills, drawing, are of the garden, preparation and cleaning of the play area, and imaginative play.

Another purpose of PBNC playgroup is support parents of young children, giving general advice on services available to pre-school aged children and general advice on parenting skills as well as networking ongoing social support for parents in a potentially isolating time of life.
